Technovation Girls Competition
Every year, Technovation invites teams of young people from all over the world to learn and apply the skills needed to solve real-world problems through technology.
SWE Jakarta collaborating with Xendit's Women In Tech, Clevio Coder Camp, and Co-Learn, managed teams sfrom various schools in Greater Jakarta area, Bandung, Surabaya, and Banjarmasin.
With the help of mentor-volunteers for 6 months, these girls learned about programming apps that have social impact and making a business plan & pitch video.

Hebocon robot workshop with mentors from Yayasan KDM (Kampus Diakoneia Modern) a non-profit organization who provide various of programs and services for street and marginalized children.

ENGINEERING WEEK 2020
On February 22, 2020, Society of Women Engineers Affiliate Jakarta hosted its second annual event of “For the Love of STEAM” to celebrate Engineering Week. E-week is meant to call attention to the contributions engineers made to society and also a time for engineers to emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills.
The volunteers only event was held to create awareness and interest of young children especially girls to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. We went beyond our target participants
and met our target ratio. We started the celebration on January 17th by showing the movie “Dream Big: Engineering Our World” and showing it in schools through out the month of February. We also participated in a STEM conference for grade 9-12.
In summary:
● 82 participants
● 50%-50% girls vs. boys (yay! An increase from 2019)
● 15 Volunteers &15 Instructors
● 67% attendees are at the age of 7 – 10
● 13 Total Classes include: coding, rocket launcher, ice-cream making, vacuum-cleaner and blender creation, microbit, and many more

GE Indonesia Event 2019
We were so happy to be invited to this amazing event and completely amazed and inspired by these women who received an award from GE Indonesia. Thank you GE Indonesia for the continuous support for women in STEM. They were so inspiring yet humble. Their struggle was real yet they prevail. We hope they can inspire young Indonesians that anything is possible as long as you put your mind and heart into it.

The 5 women in STEM awardees were:
Prof. dr. Pratiwi Pudjilestari Sudarmono, Ph.D., SpMK(K), a Microbiologist from Universitas Indonesia who was the first Asian Woman astronaut selected by NASA back in 1985. Unfortunately her mission was canceled after the unfortunate Challenger accident. 
Dr. Premana Wardayanti Premadi Ph.D, Cosmologist, Astrophysicist and Leader of Bosscha Observatory. In March 2017 asteroid was named after her in honor of her efforts yo promote astronomy in Indonesia Prof. Dr. Eng. Eniya Listiani Dewi, B.Eng., M.Eng., Profesor Bidang Teknologi Proses Elektro Kimia di Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT) The youngest recipient of Habibie Award with her research in fuel cell with electron transfer method Silvia Halim, Director Construction of PT MRT Jakarta

HABIBIE FESTIVAL 17-19 OCTOBER 2019, JIEXPO Kemayoran
We had so much fun at Habibie Festival! This was our 2nd year as participant.
Habibie Festival provided a useful experience in Science, Technology & Innovation by giving visitors a chance to look, touch & feel through the various activities provided by various parties.
We have activities for children at our booth, such as making structures from toothpick and play dough and then testing the strength of the structure by putting them on our home-made seismic table. We also have the Wayang Table Adventure, the final project from one of the student teams of the Industrial Engineering major at Universitas Trisakti.
We ran three workshops during that week:
1) Basic Cellphone Troubleshooting with Nedi Cellular, a certified instructor with disability who wants to give free classes for others with disabilities.
2) making Planting Machine that can plant seeds automatically with mechanical wheel with I-Engineer
3) Coding class with Clevio - our long-term partner
Be on the look out for next year's Habibie Festival. We will surely be there!

In his Keynote speech, President Joko Widodo said, the industrial revolution 4.0 has made the role of engineer very important and central. The existence of CAFEO37 opens up opportunities for ASEAN engineers to work together. "I hope the cooperation will not only exist between engineers, but also between engineering and other fields of science to create new innovations that boost economic growth." explained President Jokowi.
We also participated in the discussion with female engineers from various South East Asian countries part of WEAFEO.

Robotics Class with Generation Girl Indonesia, Summer Club 2019
During the summer, we participated as a mentor for one of Generation Girl's Summer Club class, Robotics.
During the 1-week class, girls age 15-18 learned about basic electronic circuits including lights, sensors, and how to program the robots to perform a synchronized dance.

Our meet up today started with a sharing session about our experience attending Women In Tech Programme in Sweden.
Then we turned into an intimate discussion about the way to lead as a female by Cynthia and Jane from Ikimura Group who is running a company in a male-dominated field. The discussion went way over of our scheduled time because it was so enlightening. Engineers Week Event
For The Love of STEAM 23 Februari 2019 Dalam rangka merayakan Engineers Week tahun ini, SWE Jakarta mengadakan berbagai workshop bertema STEAM untuk anak-anak usia 5-15 tahun. Ada workshop robotik, coding/programming, sains dan teknologi lainnya, seperti membuat mobil-mobilan dengan tenaga angin, membuat hydraulic crane, solar system hat dan origami. |
Event ini dihadiri oleh 56 murid dari 26 sekolah yang berbeda. Menariknya jumlah peserta berbanding rata jumlah perempuan dan laki-laki, padahal biasanya untuk event seperti ini peserta laki-laki jauh lebih banyak.
Selain workshop, juga ada costume contest dengan tema STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) di mana peserta wajib berbicara tentang pekerjaan yang dipilihnya selama 1 menit. Pemenang adalah Gaby Kodrata dari Sekolah Lentera Kasih yang membuat sendiri rumah-rumahan boneka sebagai architecture engineering.
Event ini disukseskan oleh rekan-rekan SWE Jakarta yaitu Rumah Main Stream, Clevio Coder Camp, Makeblock Indonesia dan I-Engineer Indonesia.

Who would have thought you could make a robot from used car parts? The movie shows how dreams are made using nothing but STEAM skills! We also had a discussion on how STEAM is vital to our future and STEAM projects exhibition from the creative students of Trisakti Industrial Engineering.

Who would have thought you could make a robot from used car parts? The movie shows how dreams are made using nothing but STEAM skills! We also had a discussion on how STEAM is vital to our future and STEAM projects exhibition from the creative students of Trisakti Industrial Engineering.
Pada tanggal 20-23 September yang lampau, SWE AffiliateJakarta ikut serta dalam festival teknologi dan inovasi Habibie Festival di JIEXPO Kemayoran.
Selama 4 hari, para volunteer di booth SWE Jakarta memberikan aktivitas kepada pendatang yang berhubungan dengan STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math), seperti: gyrocopter dengan kertas, roket dengan sedotan dan lempar-tangkap bola. Selain membuat barang peraga, peserta dijelaskan mengenai konsep-konsep fisika/ilmu alam di belakangnya. Peserta pun diajak berpikir kritis, misalnya apa yang terjadi jika baling-baling gyrocopter dibuat lebih panjang/pendek.
Di Habibie Festival sendiri banyak sekali booth-booth lain yang sangat menarik untuk dilihat. Ada rumah kardus, robotics, 3d printing, dan lain-lain. Pastinya ini adalah event yang wajib dikunjungi setiap tahunnya.

Robotic Workshop dengan MakeBlock Indonesia @SOMA
Co-Working Cafe
Pada hari Sabtu, 1 September 2018, SWE Jakarta berkolaborasi dengan MakeBlock Indonesia dan SOMA Co-Working Cafe mengadakan Robotic Workshop terbuka untuk perempuan atau Ibu dan anak.
Pada aktivitas ini, peserta diajarkan untuk membuat robot termasuk memasang motor, roda, ultrasonic sensor dan diajarkan cara mengontrol robot dengan smartphone. Selain itu juga diajarkan cara memprogram robot.
Co-Working Cafe
Pada hari Sabtu, 1 September 2018, SWE Jakarta berkolaborasi dengan MakeBlock Indonesia dan SOMA Co-Working Cafe mengadakan Robotic Workshop terbuka untuk perempuan atau Ibu dan anak.

Enrichment: Self Defense (Krav Maga) Class
SWE, dengan dukungan dari Spartan House, menyelenggarakan Self Defense Class untuk anggota dan teman dari SWE Affiliate Jakarta @Spartan House Jakarta
Kegiatan self defense class dilaksanakan pada tanggal 5 Mei 2018 dengan tujuan untuk menambah kemampuan diri dan meningkatkan kebersamaan antar anggota SWE. Kelas ini dipimpin oleh Jeson Kamadjaja, intruktur dari Spartan House Jakarta yang telah tersertifikasi untuk memberikan pelatihan Krav Maga dan telah berkontribusi dalam berbagai kegiatan untuk women empowerment. Jeson membagi insights, tips and tricks yang dapat digunakan saat kita menghadapi ancaman. Self awarenes adalah sikap yang penting untuk dimiliki karena biasanya seseorang akan mengambil kesempatan disaat kita lengah. Sikap lainnya adalah keyakinan diri bahwa kita bukanlah sekedar seorang victim dan kita dapat memiliki kontrol pada saat kita menghadapi ancaman. Selain dari sikap, peserta juga belajar cara membela diri, titik-titik lemah yang dapat diserang, dan beberapa cara untuk melepaskan diri apabila berada dalam keadaan terancam seperti diserang dari depan dan/atau dari belakang. Peserta mendapat kesempatan untuk melatih gerakan-gerakan bela diri tersebut dengan peserta lain dalam keadaaan terkontrol dan terarah.

MAKERSVERSARY 2018
SWE bergabung dengan Makedonia Makerspace menyelenggarakan Makersversary 2018 pada 7 April 2018, berlokasi di Taman Tumbuh, Kemang. Selain berpartisipasi di workshop-workshop yang ada seperti 3D printing, CNC desktop, dan Clevio coding class, peserta dapat menghadiri SWE panel. Untuk anak-anak pun tersedia Little Makers workshop yang mengajarkan anak-anak membuat prakarya dengan konsep sains dan ada Littlebits yang mengajarkan basis elektronik. SWE Panel terbagi di 3 sesi.
