SWE Jakarta Visit to Nestle Factory Karawang

On October13th 2017, SWE Jakarta along with engineering students from International University Liaison Indonesia (IULI) and friends from House of Grace (HOG) visited the Nestle Factory in Karawang. The purpose of the visit was to expose friends of SWE to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
During the visit, we were given a walk-through explanation of the Nestle Gallery where we learned about the history of Nestle, the production process of factories of Nestle, including the high-tech packaging machines. After that, we were introduced to the female engineers working at that site. They shared their experiences working in a male-dominated field and how they managed to grow and excel in their careers. Through persistence and hard-work, some of the female engineers were promoted to Continuous Improvement staff. Nestle's Human Resources Department also gave great support to host us and to answer questions from attendees.
